Vanessa Bruno

Vanessa Bruno is a from origin Scandinavian, and now based in Paris designer.

She started her career in fashion as a model, and at the age of 24 she decided tot start her own line.

Her designs are clean, simple and pure, 

and her clothing is easy to wear, comfortable, pretty and flirty.

She's one of my personal favorites.

Diptique

Diptique is a Paris based company, they produce a range of scented candles, perfumes and body care products. Diptique was founded in 1961 by three friends, painter Desmond Knox-Leet, set designer Yves Couselant and Christiane Gautrot, who was working in an architecture firm.

By origin Ditpique produced printed fabrics, but in 1963 they introduced a line of scented candles wich eventually became the main focus of their company. 

After this success they introduced more body care products.

Around the world there are 6 Diptique stores based in Paris, Londen, New York, San Fransisco, Doha and Dubai.

Personally I am a huge fan of the scent Baies, love it.

On the blog Hither and Thither I read about Shorpy.
This blog shows amazing vintage pictures.
On the "100-year-old photo blog you can find pictures taken from 1850 until 1950.
They are scanned in a high resolution, so they can be used for many goals.
When you click on it you will see an enlarged image,and miraculously more details will a pear.
Feels like going to the dentist, I started at the same drawings for many years, and found something new every time.

Truck Furniture, Osaka Japan

Tokuhiko Kise and Hiromi Karatsu are the brains behind Truck.

The in Osaka based company combines sustainability with a European retro look.

They developed a whole range of furniture.

In Japan already a well known brand, and for hear say it will not be long until Trunck conquers the European market.

Day 128

Lisa Congdon is well on her way with her a collection a day project. On this blog she documents a project that will span exactly one year, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. On each of those 365 days, she will photograph or draw (and occasionally paint) one collection. Most of the collections are real and exist in her home or studio; those she will photograph. Others are imagined; those she will draw or (occasionally) paint.


So far, she already gave us 128 collections, 237 to go!

Graanmarkt 13 Antwerp

In februari of this year the doors of a new place called Graanmarkt 13, in Antwerp opened his doors.
Ilse Cornelissens and Tim van Geloven are the brains behind this project, the wanted to create a concept with an international atmosphere and challenging atmosphere.
Graanmarkt 13 is located in a house with three levels. On the first floor you can find the restaurant, were you can go for a coffee, a glass of wine, are have lunch/dinner.
On the second floor you can find the store space, with high street clothing brands, accessories, perfumes, and design objects.
And on the third floor they made place for a gallery space were young talents can expose there work.

Fashion Show Academy Antwerp 2010

I ve you want to enjoy the creations of new and up coming talent in fashion, and get inspired, you need to go the the fashion show of the Fashion Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp. Belgium is a well known country in fashion.
Between 1980-1981 a group of influential avant garde fashion Designers graduated form the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, called the Antwerp Six.  Ann Demeulemeester, Walter van Beirendonck, Dirk van Saene, Dries van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs and Marina Yee put Belgium in the spotlight.

Spring Garden

On absolutely beautiful things I saw this picture.
It gave me a real spring feeling. Like the lazy atmosphere is breaths, and the green color palet. I can see myself sitting there with friends, drinking good wine, eating nice food and telling each other stories until dawn.

Jones Arnhem

Since 1988 Jones is based in the city center of Arnhem, in an old printing office.
For nice pieces of AF Vandervorst, Maison Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeeter or Sophie D Hoore and many more, you need to go there. Besides the clothing you can buy there, they also sell a nice range of bags, shoes, perfumes and other accessories. The nice atmosphere created by the founders Judith ter Haar and Gerhard Harmsen makes you feel really welcome. You can expect personal and genuine help of the Jones-team.

BALI

I am counting the days to my flight to BALI.
I wanted to share these two blogs about Bali for all of you planning to go there. Germaine enlists all her favorites, running from the best spot to get your spa moment, beautiful places to stay around the island, to the best restaurants. For the production of her own bag label GMZ ze has been living in Bali for a while now. You can find her bags here. Her list is in Dutch, but with a little help from google.translate you should be fine. Pris and Eve from we-like blog about their island life in a more raw and edgy way.

Vertical Gardening

I know my home city is quite progressive, but still, I was surprised to read that the local government of Amsterdam is subsidizing (!) large scale installations of vertical gardens. Now how is that! With a minimum of 40sqm the local government will pay up to 20.000 euro's (half of the total installation costs). Go Amsterdam!

Hopefully, the French botanist Patrick Blanc can be commissioned. On his site you can view the impressive list of his projects around the world.

Indoors you can install your own vertical garden with Woolly Pockets from the US. Flora Grubs  installation below is too big for my living room, but is an excellent source of inspiration nonetheless.

Russian Folk House

Again Tim Walker made beautiful photo's using this Russian Folk House. When I look at it, I feel a little bit like I am in a fairytale.
The dreamy atmosphere, the colors and the alienating elements make it pretty special.

Angela Kohler

I was doing my normal blog-routine, and spotted on all that mountains a  shots of a short movie bij Angela Kohler. I was so inspired by the shots, that I immediately went to youtube to watch the movie.
I loved the dreamy atmosphere they created. Than I looked for some more work of Angela Kohler, and came on her website, worth a visit. A talented lady.

Merci Paris

When you are in Paris you have to go to Merci, a deparmentstore on the 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais.


The starters of this great store are Marie France and Bernhard Cohen. About 30 years ago they were the brains behind the successful high street brand Bonpoint. And in 2009 they started Merci. The store is located in an old factory building in the 3th arrondissement. Next to the designers clothing of Stella McCartney and Paul Smith, you can find lamps of Phillipe Starck and furniture of Marcel


 Wanders, you can buy flowers there, something old something new you have to experience it by yourself.
It is definitely worth a visit when you are in Paris.
